Nestled in the charming town of Simsbury, CT, Millwrights Restaurant provided the perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding celebration I had the privilege of photographing. This lovely couple chose to keep their event small and personal, surrounded by only their closest family and friends. The rustic elegance of the restaurant’s setting added an undeniable warmth to the day. Despite the smaller guest list, every moment was filled with love, laughter, and joyful energy.
Timing is everything! A year before their micro-wedding, the bride asked me what the best time for bride and groom portraits would be given the sunset time. We intentionally planned for portraits to happen during the golden hour so that the sun would be at a flattering angle, and the grounds would be in perfect, soft lighting.
In addition to the lighting, we took advantage of Millwrights’ scenic grounds, capturing the couple’s genuine connection against the mill backdrop, and some of the lush foliage — which was surprising since the wedding took place in early November, and the foliage is typically gone by then.
It was a perfect day!
