Jess and Mike’s June 2024 summer wedding at The Rivers Edge Ballroom at Saint Clements was one for the books. The weather played a major role, with sweltering 95-degree temperatures with a lot of humidity, pushing us to work quickly during the portrait sessions. We made sure to complete all the formal outdoor portraits before the thunderstorms rolled in, capturing some beautiful moments with the stunning river views in the background. Despite the heat, Jess and Mike were both so easygoing, smiling through it all and trusting the process, even when the weather threatened to change their plans.
Unfortunately, as much as the couple dreamed of having their ceremony on the docks, safety became the priority as dark clouds loomed above. It was a bit disappointing for them, but the covered patio offered a perfect alternative, keeping their guests safe and comfortable. The ceremony went off without a hitch, and just as they shared their first kiss as a married couple, the skies opened up, and the rain began to pour. It was a dramatic moment, but they managed to steal the perfect first kiss just in time, and the guests cheered with excitement as the storm began.
Once the rain let up, we took advantage of the cooler, fresh air to grab some additional bride and groom photos during the reception. The couple was more than willing to step outside again for a few more portraits, showing off their chemistry and the joy they felt in those moments. As the evening went on and the rain finally stopped, we ventured outside for some breathtaking night portraits under the soft glow of the venue’s lights. The entire day, despite the weather challenges, was full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories that Jess and Mike will cherish for a lifetime.
