Alexandra’s (“Alex”) & Adam’s Spring wedding at Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT.
We began with getting ready photos at the 1820 House in Simsbury, CT. This portion included photos of the bride’s and groom’s wardrobe décor and details, as well as the “final touches” of getting dressed.
Despite having a Catholic Church wedding, Alex and Adam made the choice to do a “first look” at Hop Meadow prior to their wedding ceremony so that they could take most of their formal portraits, and thus enjoy the majority of cocktail hour with family and friends. Their first look took place at noon, which isn’t quite the ideal time for photos, especially on the middle of a golf course (which is in broad daylight). But luckily, this wasn’t my first time working there, and I knew where to find the limited shaded spots with more flattering lighting.
The wedding ceremony took place just down the road at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, located on Hopmeadow Street.
I loved the architecture and suspending lighting inside off Saint Mary’s! I always look for ways to utilize architecture when composing my portraits.
I love catching candid moments like these:
